I'm not so sure. About the uniform part, I mean. They certainly don't wear hats anymore - too much trouble. That's why Baril looks like such a clown when he DOES put one on. That's why we wear poppies on our jackets on Rememberance Day rather than, as has been the custom for at least 60 years, our headdress. That's why a decent uniform like the tans were removed. And forage caps. And the list goes on. And that's also why clerks aren't even called clerks anymore. And the move to call privates "journeymen", etc., etc., etc.
Officers kiss the butts of politicians? I'm not so sure they aren't the same thing!
