You really should try to get a few more facts before unloading on the system - and these facts are quite generally known in the Edmonton Garrison.

Bryan was so drunk he had vomited on his uniform and crapped in it. Apart from being unable to walk unaided, he, in his drunken wisdom, tried to give orders and generally take command when the more intelligent among us would probably wisely have gone to bed and looked for clean underwear in the morning.

The issue of how our people in these theatres are supposed to deal meaningfully with other cultures who use alcohol in their everyday dealings is one thing - and a blanket across-the-board no consumption of booze policy doesn't make operational sense, and should be reviewed and critiqued.

The other issue of how much drunken or otherwise unacceptable behavior is accepted and in fact covered-up is quite another one. In the circumstances quoted above, a senior officer, the DCO, (that's Deputy Commanding Officer in case you'd forgotten) has a very real responsibility to take command and do the right thing.

The theme evident in the previous postings that boys will be boys and we should all cover up for this sort of fun stuff, particularly in a theatre where lives are at stake and ammunition and weapons are prevalent, lacks intelligence or loyalty to the system and the soldiers these officers in command are responsible for.
