National Service?

The patriot and Red seem to agree in another post that
some form of mandatory national service would be beneficial.
What say you of that?

I have to say that I see that as a very positive unifying
force for Canada. It wouldn't necessarily even have to be
just military service either, in my opinion.

I work with some fellows from France and they saw it as
a very good thing. Of course France and a lot of other
countries are phasing out this practice. I think they'll
miss it when it's gone.
