My Response:

a. As of 1998, the military was broken into the following percentages:

Military Strength 92,600 (61,000 Regular Force and
31,600 Primary Reserve Force)
Land Forces account for 48%
Air Forces (including air support to Maritime and Land Forces) 19%
Maritime Forces 17%
Personnel Support 6% (includes the Canadian Forces Recruiting, Education, and Training System)
Communications and Information Management 5%
Materiel, Infrastructure and Environment Support 2%
Department/Forces Executive 1%
Joint Operations and Civil Emergency Preparedness 2%

So where do you want to cut all the "fat asses"?

b. I'll repeat my question...What is the military threat to Canada from foreign countries? Canada has a commitment to NATO that it is able to meet. We have two Battle Groups serving overseas with NATO as we speak.

c. War is not interesting and should not be conducted to boost the CNN ratings. I know you are joking, but, never forget that young men and women die in pursuit of a governments policies and each death better be justified. I've had several friends die or wounded overseas on "peacekeeping" missions. I like to think their deaths were somehow not in vain.

I don't think I have any other comments.
