The chain of command is the most important element of a military. It ensures, or at least tries to ensure, that each level is responsible for its subordinate levels. As such, a Course Offcr is responsible for the training of the troops - the good, the bad, and the ugly. That is the burden of being an Offcr - because while the NCO's take the heat for the inexperienced NCM's, who do you think takes the big heat for the experienced NCO's? But let's not get into an 'us vs them' mentality. That mentality is at the root of many military problems, and in small doses is a neccesary element.

I think the CF Offcr Corp is at a cross-roads right now. CF Offcr's aren't the rough and tumble, in with the men Marine Officers, nor are they the upper class, elite British officers. The middle ground in which I percieve the CF Offcr to fill is unproductive because it produces Offcr's who the men know too well to respect. Does anybody see my point? I suggest that the Offcr Corp needs to strengthen its 'image' and its core values, and to commit to a unified, doctrinated style of command.
