I don't agree with you. I'm think that liking someone and respecting their Soldier skill are two different,mutually exclusive, things. Respect comes from skill at your job, not personability. Liking someone often comes along with that but not necessarily. Officers should be held to a hugher standard for everything, we lose our respect for you when we seethat you can't do the same things we have to do IE. weapons handling, physical fitness, navigation, dress and deportment etc.

Incidently I think you guys are missing my point, you may in fact be responsible for the training of troops. That dousn't mean you can make the claim that YOU trained them. When you really compare what a section commander does to what a crse commander does they are like apples and oranges. A section commander or 2i'c teaches everthing the recruit actually uses in his everyday life as a soldier. A crse commander may teach a few fluff lessons on Military law and CF structurre but in reality these are designed only to give the Officer some presence to the troops and a break from their "mean" NCOs.
