It's only my personal opinion, but I have worked with a few Royal Marine officers and liked every one of them. I regard the Royal Marines as being a good organisation.

Note, however, that a friend of mine wanted to join the British Army as an officer, but had to enlist as a private at first (due to his citizenship).

Other than that, if you're serious about this, you'd better start getting in top physical condition - if you look hard enough in the bookstore, you might be able to obtain a copy of a Royal Marine physical fitness training book (I've got two different books on this subject) - I can't remember what their minimum standards are, and I suggest you wouldn't want to "screw up" and fail initial/basic training - it's a long way from home for most.
