Heres a question for all you barrack barristers. The Australian army
just got rid of 700 officers and soldiers because they could not meet the physical,
medical and fighting standards. The reasons ranged from obiesity to poor teeth to
an inability to shoot accuratly. If this happened in Canada would it violate the Charter
or the anti dicrimination rules in the military? It comes down to not meeting the standard
and that comprimises a soldiers ability to do their job. Is this why things like the 3.2k run
13k stroll were shut down. I've never been given a clear reason on this point. Also why were
pushups dropped as punishment on courses? I remember getting told to to pushups on my QL2(everybody
them together). They built teamwork and motivation, you weren't gonna quit because it made you look bad.
They also built strength which in the infantry is neccessary. Was this harassment?
This seems to be largely the case in the reserves I cannot speak for regular army courses.

I still think that the SHARP and related training is a good thing. It tells anyone who was in doubt what
not tolerated. IF the trainig is taken in context it should not present a comprimise to effectiveness.
If you cannot do your job be it carrying your ruck over hill and valley or something as simple as
as following the SHARP guidlines the I agree get the hell out of the Forces. At the same time don't use
the rules to avoid doing your job. A sense of duty and drive helps. Enough of my rambling...Paratus
