The Finance Minister is giving us $1.9 billion over the next 4 years: $350 million this year, $400 million next year, $550 million the year after, and $600 million in the final year. These aren't increases in the defence budget baseline, but as someone in the media put it, they're like the defence department is getting annual bonuses. My feeling is that this doesn't come close to addressing our needs, like the CF-18 and Aurora upgrades, the Armoured Combat Vehicle requirement, and the Multi-Role Logistics and Sealift Capablility program. Any thoughts?
