Hi all, I've read through some of these messages, and haven't quite found the answer I'm looking for. I go for my physical, interview, medical etc... on Thursday of this week to go DEO (infantry officer) or NCM (technician job). Seems like the recruiting office is pushing me towards the officer position - Any comments on that? I realize the officer makes more, but if money was the reason I was considering this, I'd still be making $50000 a year at my old job.
Anyways, one question I have is that I have a family, a 2 year old girl and a 4 month old son. Should I get in and I see no reason why I wouldn't, how does the family fit? Do they travel with you, do you leave them behind, do they live on a base (maybe I've watched too many movies), but I can't seem to find out and I haven't asked the recruiting people yet.

Lastly, any pointers for doing well in the interview and various other tests which apparently is an all day thing on Thursday?

I appreciate your candidness in advance. Thanks.

Hello

Well, I can't answer your first question because i haven't even been sworn in yet.

however, as too your second question i can answer.

for reasons of national security, i'm not suppose to talk about the written test.

the medical consists of blood pressure, eye exam, hearing exam, wieght and hieght measurement etc.

Expect a LOT of question in the interview, my interview was a really good guy and so I had fun, he'll just ask if you ever did drugs and stuff. Honesty is the best deal here.

your Fit Test is fun, you do as much pushups as you can, make sure you go ALL THE WAY DOWN, and get over 19. However for situps you have one minute to do as much as you can. Then you do a step test, which you run up steps for a minute, be sure to get a breathing pattern down for deep breathes, some athletic people have fast heart rates already and it will be harder for them to get under beats per minute.

Hope you have fun

Hey Travis, thanks for the info.

One quick question, did you find out that same day whether or not you had a position, or is there MORE waiting involved? such a long process... (not that I'm complaining
