What constitutes "qualified" in the sense of a politician being suited to discuss application
of military force? As an MP, I would imagine Mr Robinson has access to DND at some level.
Does "qualified" imply military education including staff college? Politicians with that
kind of background are thin on the ground, here and elsewhere. I suspect if you enumerate
all the MNDs and their counterparts in Britain and the US over the last 50 years, few had
military experience, and of those fewer probably had more than a few years experience as an
enlisted soldier or junior officer.
