Add WWI to that too. The best general the British had in WWI, Arthur Currie, was a prewar Militiaman. Had the war lasted into 1919 he would have been commander of the BEF.

The majority of WWII generals were prewar militiamen, too. And the senior NCOs and officers that shaped the CASF/Canadian Army (Overseas) were militiamen. It will be that way, God forbid it should happen, if we have another war.

BGen Cox is entitled to his opinion of anyone and anything. And having spoken to him at the University of Calgary when he lectured my class on peacekeeping, I would have to say you don't know what you're talking about, since he sang the praises of reservists when asked. Or maybe you know him better than the rest of us.
