I'm not interested in discussing the difference between maternity vice "paternity" leave - I'm merely pointing out that a female member of the civil service receives 27 weeks of "top-up" pay during maternity leave, whereas a female member of the Canadian Forces does not. Period - point final.

According to information received directly from the "unemployment office" when my wife registered.

Thus, it would appear that this is yet another example of Treasury Board caving in to the demands of the union, whereas members of the CF receive whatever scraps are left over. I can only hope that the paperwork is being completed even as we "speak", and an announcement will follow shortly (stating that members of the CF will receive the same maternity benefits as members of the federal civil service).

What's good for one goose (civil servants), should also be good for the other goose (military members).
