Without a singular doubt, the greatest honour bestowed upon a Sub Altern/Sr Sub Altern and for that matter the Escorts to the Colours is to be appointed as part of the Colour Guard. A lot of folks that I have talked with that have been parts of Guards have bitched and moaned about the fact that they had to do it in first place but if you asked them to step aside and let someone else do it, you were in for a fight!! I have been the Conducting Warrant Officer on 20 (or so) parades and have been given a Royal screwing from the Old Guard for deleting or omiting what appeared to be an inoccuous detail of the Colour Guard. I have a greater appreciation for the traditions of the Old Guard to know that the last time the Colours were paraded by my Guard, there were no nasty comments...only tears in the Old Guards' eyes. I guess we must have struck a cord.

Thanks again for the details and look forward to seeing you post more at a later date. By the way, the gentleman (if I may use the term loosely) that usually posts under the title of Art Johnson is having his knee (he's only got one) replaced at Sunnybrook Hospital. You might want to email the Hospital and give him a thumbs up!

All the Best
