Is Canada going ahead with the Western Star vehicle submitted for the LUVW project?

If so, does anyone have any spec.'s, photos, personal opinions, etc?

Canadian taxpayers are always complaining about govt. spending, and Canadian politicians take these complaints out on the CF's in the form of budget cuts that are disproportionate to other government departments.

Yet more money is wasted by requiring that the next Light Utility Vehicle Wheeled be built in Canada, whereas it could be procured in a far less expensive manner by buying "off the shelf" from a foreign manufacturer.

While the humvee is not my personal choice for the LUVW project, simply eliminating the Humvee from the competition because it wouldn't be built in Canada is pure stupidity.

Instead the government will likely choose the Western Star contender (if they have not done so already, I'm a little out of the loop), a vehicle which, given the illustrious record of the LSVW (with its backward parking break, squeaky breaks, unreliable and downright dangerous engine pre-heater, constantly malfunctioning windshield wipers and sprayer, and stupid spring activated troop seats which bounce you around like a goddamned trampoline) is likely to be another lemon which will cost the Canadian taxpayer far more than a proven vehicle (ie. Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen, Land Rover Defender/TurboWolf series, or AM General HMMVW) which could be procured from a foreign manufacturer.
