Also, the transmission that on occasion decides it only wants to operate in the lower gears. Allowing a thirty minute "afternoon nap" mysteriously alleviates this problem.

Why, oh why, did we get rid of the Willy's? They are easy to work on, will go anywhere, are small (easier to ship and to camouflage/conceal) but with a fairly good payload and towing capacity. What improvements did the ILTIS really have over the MB Willy's? It wasn't ease of maintenance. Or top speed. The only thing wrong with a Willy's is that it tips over on corners if you're going too fast.
