I'm 21 years old, an university student. I've been wanting to join the reserves for a bit more over than a year now. My problem is, I can't seem to outargue my parents. Their reason is our gov't's lack of funding for the forces, the bad rep created during the Somalia (as well as the Airborne) scandal by the press, and of course violence. Personally, I don't think it's legit, but I can't refute their points with some strong points. Need some help please, cuz I'm going home again to see them, and this topic sure as heck will be brought up again. I don't want to do it "behind their backs" or without informing them first.
