The prime question you might  ask, is what service is the best to join?
That depends on what you are looking for.
If it is esprit de corps, adventure, and good comradeship, the British forces may well fill the bill, so may well the United States Marine Corps.
However, if you are thinking of after service Service, like veteran's affairs,
and recognition of service, like gongs, then forget the British forces; they have a dismal track record.
Canada use to be very good in looking after veterans, but not any more.
Currently I would say that the United States forces look after their veterans, as good as, or better than any other country.
