I think that it could discourage any recruits/civilians from becoming involved or being able to ask questions because most forces members will be posting in their messes. Besides, the idea of an all ranks mess is kind of nice. Where we can ask questions in a completely informal way. Without having to stand at attention and stare into space. I am a newbie to the infantry reserves, and am going away for QL2/3 this summer. I realize that military formality is a necessary thing, but why would we want to do that on the net? (Or mabey I will see once I have finished all my training and experience some epiphany)
