I'm a big ol' dinosaur. Russia joining NATO just seems totally weird to me.

Heh... I'm young but I feel weird too. We'll get used to it, someday. Hopefully before they go commie on us again.

From what I understand they are not joining outright, they will just be allowed to participate in the information-sharing, and some decision-making when it comes to "anti terrorism" and other such vague and potentially wide-reaching things...but do I like it? Not particularly. Something just doesn't feel right about it but I can't put my finger on exactly what it is.

fortuncookie5084 pretty much summed up what I've heard, though in addition Russia won't be able to vote on any NATO issues...

It is weird, like you all say.. I didn't I'd see this happening anytime soon...

NATO was made to counter the Soviets, and then the USSR fell... How much has NATO's role/mission changed in the past decade?
