As the saying goes, "the uniform does not make the man". A very large part of dress and deportment is deportment ie the way you act, behave and carry on. If you carry yourself like a soldier, "total civilians" will recognize and respect you as such. I do not believe that we need anymore modifications or bells and whistles on our uniforms. The Combat uniform is a functional piece of operational kit, get one that fits, wear it properly and act like the professional soldier that you are.
For those of you that are unable to do this, perhaps you should think of another line of work and stop embarassing the rest of us that wear the uniform with pride.
As for looking "cool" most unit have ceremonial dress that is pretty dam cool, be it a highlander in a kilt or a guardsman in scarlet tunic and bearskin, there is no mistaking who they are.Up the Guards!
