WRT to your story about the M113. It is pretty accurate. I believe it was 1969, however the vehicle belonged to the Combat Arms School vice 1RCR and the driver was JL Gallant who was later posted to 1RCR. He was lucky to get out of that alive. I don't remember who the crew commander was. They bailed out with the engine running when they noticed the smoke and just managed to get a few metres away before the first round blew. I don't know what the official investigation determined was the cause, but we figured the heater in the APC malfunctioned and melted the plastic case on one of the mortor rounds and .......
