I'm hoping that someone out there can lend me some
assistance. I recently contacted a civi rock climbing
coy. When I asked for the qualifications of the
instructors I was told "one of my guys is a former SAR
tech."

Excellent I said until they faxed over their resume.
As I looked at the dates and locations of crses I
became a little suspicious. The head instr joined the
reserves in 1988 (this checked out to be true),
however, in one summer 1988 he completed BTT MSE Op,
BTT and STT MP. The next entry on his resume is for
BTT SAR Tech in Esquimalt in Jan 90. I'm not sure when
or if he ever did join the regs but less than two years
in he was a SAR Tech. That summer, July 90 he completed
STT SAR Tech. From what I know about SAR Techs you need
some TI before you get in the trade.

Next he completed Advance Mountain Ranger Course in
Gagetown! I think that Cootes is the biggest hill in
Gagetown.

The assistant instr also competed Advanced
Mountianeering in Gagetown.

Any SAR Techs or mountianeering pers wish to commment.
