Obviously you have taken little personal interest in your health care other than talking to "someone" in order to determine what benefits you may be "ENTITLED" to after under going a surgical procedure utilizing a General Anesthetic.
Had you had a frank discussion with your attending physician/specialist you would have learned that each and every sick leave case is judged on its own merit by a consultative process between all parties involved.
Factors taken into consideration include the injury/illness that led to the surgery in the first place, your bodies response to the procedure, your employment circumstace, etc, etc. My experience over a 25 year career both as a provider and as a patient
has been the Physicians will in 99.9% of the time give the benefit to the injured party. Keep in mind you will still receive your full salary while on sick leave in addition to free medications (benefits the average Canadian is NOT entitled to).
Bottom line, there is no cookie cutter ENTITLEMENT to sick leave!!!
HEALTH CARE IS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY between you and the CFMS.
Get a grip -the Medical Branch is not the enemy as many who whine in very public forums would have you believe. WE ALSO SERVE !
