Actually, because of their employment, they were deemed essential for the war effort. As a result, they could not "just quit"!!! They aren't asking for a pension (they already receive some vet benefits), they are asking for a lump sum payment similar to the payment received by the military members when they were demobilized after the war. Still don't think they deserve it?
