Recce Platoon

Hi. I want to join the army after highschool and am interseted in a career in the infantry. Actually I want to be in the recce platoon. I have heard that this is a kind of special unit. What I would like to know is what kind of training and tasks do they perform, (eg. tactical photography, intelligence gathering). Also are pathfinders the same thing, only in the airborne?
