Re: British 8th Army Corps of Engineers WWII?
My step-father was conscripted by them as soon as he
stepped on British soil. While in their charge he
received, what has turned out to be a very obscure
"distinction;" that of a "QUEEN'S CORPORAL" while in
the field. Only five Canadians were so honoured. But,
no one knows anything about this award and five Canadians
are under the impression that it had and has meaning.
Neither the British not the Canadians appear to have
given this award any mention on any military web site.
The only thing I have been able to find out is that it
was a field award given out by the Calvary. I do not
know what it has to do with the Engineers.

I would sincerely like to find out who the other four
are and the particulars underwhich they received this
award. Also, I would like the award identified and
noted in every nook and cranny possible. It is shameful
that these men and their "honour" have been treated so
cavalierly. It was only "circumstance" which awarded
some more prestigous awards but no less courage was the
courage of those who did not.
