I agree. With all due respect to Mr. Taylor's post-military accomplishments, one engagement in the Infantry does not make him a military expert. Unfortunately, he is being treated as such by his peers in the media, who will go to any lengths to sell a story.

Recently Mr. Taylor was interviewed on CBC concerning the deployment of troops to assist Toronto after the snow storm. He had the audacity to suggest that the morale of the troops suffers when they're deployed in this manner. In his statement, he said that soldiers feel like uniformed public utilities personnel when forced to work clearing snow or assisting at natural disasters like ice storms or floods. What a crock of shit.

The only heartaches I heard from troops so employed were that they were sent on very short notice, and had to leave personal admin details to their wives. Otherwise, they were all extremely happy to be able to perform a public service for country and to show their mettle to their fellow citizens.

Scott Taylor should try to return Esprit de Corps magazine to its former state..a good, all-round blend of news, history and humour with a sprinkling of scandal if he must. The last thing the Army needs is an over-priced National Enquirer with an editor who thinks he speaks on behalf of the little guys.
