Now see what happens Mike? When the chips are down and all is said and done, the first thing that a bitching and hollering serviceman/woman does is rally to the cause! It's nice to know that there are some very dedicated and loyal soldiers on this page that, despite the put downs and the slams, love this country for all that it has to offer and are willing to stand up and be accountable to ensure that it stays that way. I know that I would not want to live out my years (nor the years of my children and childrens' children) in any other country but this one. Without exception.

If you seek to fight (and fight you will) for any cause (like the liberation of Chad from Libya ((one desert for another)), go ahead and make your day; Join the Legion...a couple of footnotes though: 1) get all your dental work done before you leave: 2) learn Parisian gutter french fast: 3) learn to sleep with one eye open and 4) go to the Legion with the thought that there are a 1000 ways to kill yourself without inflicting one tenth of the pain that the Legion will put you through in the first year (that's when you qualify for your first leave). With all that in mind, have fun, don't write (you're not allowed to for the first six months anyway) and what ever you do, don't try to quit...it's more painful than staying!

If you have spent all of your life fighting tooth and nail to stay alive in what ever environment in which you live, then you may be ready to join the Legion and have the proper mindset. If you have grown up in Canada with all it gives without asking, then perhaps you should give the Legion some more thought.
