(chuckle)

Well, this was a fun thread to follow at the end of the day ... despite some comments which bordered on rudeness.

Personally, I remember an article I saw ages ago - basically said that people like to wear the "opposite" of what they wear to work when they are "off duty" (i.e. bankers would not wear ties, labourers would wear smarter clothes, etc.)

Thus, it's an interesting way to guage the mood of an individual - some make a point of wearing completely non-military clothing, whereas others enjoy wearing something with the Regimental crest/whatever.

In the Canadian context, I've grown up with the trend of wearing "team colours" (whether you root for the Leafs or the Habs). Thus, if a Canadian soldier/sailor/airman wants to wear their team colours when they're off duty - so what?

I suppose it's all dependent upon what you're brought up with (i.e. Militia officers wearing their Regimental tie to their civvie jobs on Fridays, simply because it's a tradition, and not a bad one at that).

The bottom line? "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

(now I'm going to put on some maroon sweatpants with that funny winged crest so my office slacks won't get salt stains, a hooded University of Toronto sweatshirt because it's cold out, and take my doggies for a run in the snow)
