MWG I was an augmentee with 1 RCR when they went to Croatia in '94 and I can tell you that I did go through a screening process at the district level and again witht the Battalion. It wasn't much of a process and the only big worry anywhere seemed to be the dental aspect. I know that because the 1RCR tour came up first it got the "better" candidates from my old unit and the RCD tour got "the rest". This meant that for the most part (one notable exception being an officer nicknamed Old Eight Bags for his IV consumption due to the two by ten) the troops sent to the RCR were somewhat more "checked out" than those on the RCD tour. Ask your buddy (is it GB?) and he'll tell you all about them.
