Please dont think I was dredging up the us/them issue. I guess I was trying to bring an example and show support for the need to allow reserve troops to be afforded to ply thier trade in the military as well as thier civi persuits.
I did'nt mean to say we had 'bad' augment troops, in fact there were some real shiners. Guys I would really like in my section. It's just too bad that those pers who would like to go can't because of other commitments.
On a side note; the troops we had in our platoon said they had no pre screening at thier home unit. Is this a new practice? What is involved?
Also, I have a buddy who is an MWO in the Reserves. He works at (Dehavalind?) , a US company which allows him to go for training and in fact makes up the differance in his pay. I guess if this were more of a general practice here, employers would see the BENIFITS of haveing pers with associated military training. not the guns and ammo stuff but the side benifits.
