Well as a reservist I can tell you what I know and what our Colonel has told us. Our brigade was given the official WngO back in September. Basically put, the Comd. has sort of scaled back our Offensive Ops training for the next 18 months. Our proposed CRE in October of '99 has been canceled, as we most probably will be gearing up for any response training that may be needed. As for being put on standby or being mobilized, that issue is still grey. The big wigs have asked that each unit be prepared to provide at least 50% strength for the Op. However, and this is a big one, if an "Act of Council" is proclaimed by Parliament, 100% of the reserves will be called up, just as in a call-up for War. I cannot see this happening, as others may agree.

I know that our unit's training syllabus is slowly reflecting training towards this problem. Our yearly winter indoc has been designated as our test in order to determine if we can ourselves survive in the cold. I guess that Op Recuperation didn't prove anything?!?

Well that's my bit.

A question however....

While the combat arms and CSS are out in the field, what exactly will the LOG support at HQ, like NDHQ be doing. Let's give an example, say a LAN operator/administrator at NDHQ (I have a buddy there, so it's alright), what will he being doing. Will he be on leave or will they mobilize the internal ranks of the CF to go out and brave the cold?
