At each base, I've heard the story of "The Sunken APC". It must be some sort of right of passage in order for a base to be a 'Base'. But then, how did it end up at Meaford; it's only a training area?
It's like one of those chinese puzzles that 'Santa' seems to think you'll really enjoy finding in your Christmas stocking...I don't enjoy them the rest of the year, why the f**k would I enjoy them at Christmas?
I really enjoyed the stories (and they were many!) about the American divisions poised on the Quebec border during the FLQ crises. Until one day I happened to come across the Ops plans in a declassified group of information regarding the 10th Mountain Division based out of Fort Drum. I questioned some of the divisional commanders of the time and they were suprised that I was not aware of the plan or how close it came to being put into effective deployment. Gave me the willies for months!!
