found field glasses from WW1 or WW@

Have a set of field glasses with the following information carved into the carrying case:
- J. Riddel, A Coy, 2nd Bn THE COR. HRS

I think this is the 2nd Batallion, maybe the Irish Regiment (Canadian)- BUT not sure.
Would like info on this person, or how I could find out information about this person.
