Jim, during WWII my grandfather spent his time in Gander NF on an air force base. The only medal he recieved was the CVSM and a General Service pin. From the stories Ive heard the CVSM was an embarassing medal to have simply because everyone who volunteered got one. My question is (no sarcasm intended), do you think that soldiers will wear their "I shoveled snow in Ottawa" medals with honour and pride? I think these medals would be comparable to the CVSM in the 40s.
