Just so we're all on the same wavelength. I just need to correct some facts here. Firstly, the Airborne Regiment was disbanded in 1995, NOT 1986. The current situation of jump taskings has now gone back to pre-CF unification standards. Each reg force infantry battalion has a jump company (i.e. RCR, VanDoos, PPCLI). So in a nutshell, the Airborne Regiment as a whole does not exist, but is still around with the maroon beret proudly being worn. I'd strongly suggest that those who would slight the maroon berets, stongly do a gut check. None of the weekend warriors will ever come close to the training standards of the maroon berets. Those that are ex-regs in the "MO" are most likely at standard, but please do not berate the most elite troops that this country still has left. Many of these individuals are most likely on there way to the JTF. Show some respect people. For those who are out of line, grow up. Those who have worn the maroon beret, got there for one reason. They were the standard to be judged by. If any of you are ex-paratroopers, hats off to all of you.
