Thanks for the recommendation and the link. I think I have read everything "official" on the position (comes from doing research papers :). I am pretty sure that I can deal with the physical punishment, it is the leading of men and the "set a shining example" that I read everywhere that has me intimidated.
About the assholes...it is amazing how they find their way into any profession...I guess you take the good with the bad and try not to be part of the problem.
