'Pomp and Pageantry' are almost derogatory terms. Ceremony...of course!! These displays let people know that their tax dollars are spent well, on proffessionals. People who take great pride in what they do! In small towns across Canada I have seen great turn-outs for such parades. One of Canadas #1 draws for tourists is the changing of the guard on Parliament Hill. Who really thinks these soldiers are guarding those buildings and parliamentarians with loaded weapons?! As a member of more than a few honor guards I can attest to the great number of cameras as the colors go by! People should feel pride when they speak of family members in the CF. We aren't just Garbage men, factory workers, doctors etc. We are members of the Canadian Armed Forces!!
