Brigadier General Hanson (Retired) is the Associate Executive Director of the Canadian Institute of Strategic Studies. His last position before he retired in 1994, was Base Commander CFB Borden. He was a RCEME/EME officer of long field experience. He commanded 4 Svc Bn in Germany. I suggest he knows about something about leading and training troops.

You should view BGen(Ret'd) Hanson's remarks in the context of the higher arguments about how DND money is being spent. If you also look at the details of the argument, you may see he has a point. He is not arguing that troops should not have TV, but he is arguing that there may be more important things to be done before fielding an $8 million DND TV network. Why not just buy every unit a couple of satellite dishes and let them watch the CBC, or anything else they can get.

Imagine what a DND TV network will be like anyway! Hah!

Regards, Don.
