Disillusioned:

Although you are concerned about what you perceive to be a lack of expereience and training, keep in mind the following points. BOTC is not intended to make you an expert in fieldcraft, only to familiarize you with conditions in the field and small party taskings. It is phase training which is intended to give you the base of skills to be able to perform as a platoon/troop commander. Keep in mind that you can not expect to arrive at your unit as a newly minted Lt and possess all the skills. You will learn them by going to the field with your troops and by observing and developing a relationship with your Pl WO.

What is of greater concern is the type of leadership which has been on display at St Jean. You have allready identified which behaviour you don't like, part of the solution will be for you not to engage in similar behaviour nor condone it in others. While this may not make you popular with your friends and peers, leadership is not a popularity contest. I encourage you to stick with it and decide for yourself after phase training if being an Officer is worthwhile or not. There are many good officers out there and many more good NCMs who want good leadership - its your call.
