Don't sweat it. As was already said, bust ass everyday, don't ask the troops to do something you won't do yourself and pay attention to the mistakes you make as they often teach you far more than someone teaching you/holding your hand.
As for the stuff in the shacks, it sounds like the same stuff you hear about on alot of courses at all rank levels.
One last thing, lose the feeling of shame for your peers. These are your future comrades, you will make more accurate judgements of them once you get into the "real world"
