Reg Blatchford served in WW1 probably with PPCLI or RCR (sorry if names wrong). Was wounded Somme and certified dead, but lived. Fought at Vimy Ridge standing next to Brig. Gen Hamilton Gault when leg was shot off. This is the family myth. I am trying to find out anything about his war record. He was certainly decorated but returned all medals.
Also does anyone know anything about 3 Army Commando, my father in law went on Dieppe raid and allegedly rowed channel but has lost memory due to 'friendly fire' incident with US tank in 1943.
Any help greatly welcomed.
