Mr. Sallows; While I don't like the idea of your portrayal of the future Reserve elements, I believe that you hit upon an accurate description. I have not seen a demonstration of true 'warfighting' outside of a training area in the last fifteen years (no, I do not include Somalia) and as for the effective use of the Navy and the Airforce, they are so poorly equipped for the modern battle field they are not much more than cannon fodder.

I do not embrace the concept of a 'conspiracy' by the Regulars to 'take over' the Reserves but I feel that there may be some reluctance on the part of the Regulars to watch the amounts of potential budget flow in the Reserve direction. With the command structure established the way it is, I can not help wondering as to the fate of the Reserves in the next millenium.

You present a good, logical argument with justifiable examples and experiences. I wish there were more of you on this page that put forth your level of effort and support of the CF.
