David;
There are a couple of sites that say that the 1st Brigade collected at Valcartier prior to proceeding overseas in 1939, not so, the 48th left directly from the CNE grounds 17 December 2020 and proceeded directly to dockside in Halifax. Also the date of sailing is given as the 17th of December 1939. This is not entirely correct as the 48th and The RCR were just entraining as of that date and didn't sail untill the 21st of December 1939.
Some elements of the 1st Brigade did sail on the 17th of December, the Toronto Scottish for one and also some of the advance partys for the other units also.
