The Rhine River crossings was one of the most elaborately staged battles of the war. Patton slipped across in the middle of the night, Hodges grabbed the bridge at Remagen, while Monty planned weeks in advance how he was going to do it.

Veritable, as well, was a huge set piece attack, including the largest fire support plan of the war in the west. If anything, Monty's planning far exceeded Patton's ability to plan, especially taking into account Patton's ignorance of logistics.
